Kaplan International New Zealand

Dear Agents

First, let me thank you for your ongoing support for Massey University over the past year as we, and the rest of the world, respond to the challenges of COVID-19 and the disruptions caused to global travel. Your continued engagement is appreciated.

As you may be aware, Massey University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kaplan International New Zealand to explore opportunities to work together on the delivery of selected pathway programmes.

Following this agreement, more detailed discussions have occurred resulting in the decision to partner with Kaplan to deliver a selection of pre-degree programmes for Massey University’s international students. This means that for the start of the 2021 academic year, Kaplan will deliver the current Massey University Certificate in Foundation Studies and Certificate of University Preparation on the Auckland Campus and Online to students offshore. We will also be offering IELTS-free English for Academic Purposes pathways to Massey University international students, and this replaces the Foundation Certificates for Academic English (DEEP/DEEP Advanced). In addition, Massey will not be offering English Language Proficiency/ General English for the early part of 2021.

All new and existing students affected by the new delivery model will shortly be contacted by the university and will be provided with updated pathways and advice on how these changes impact them.

There is nothing you have to do at this stage and the applicants/students will be communicated to, and for example where needed offers will be reissued. Commission will be paid as per your agreement with Massey for any students who commence study with Massey, or move to programmes for which commission is eligible.

Kaplan are one of the world’s largest providers of Foundation and English language courses, and have been delivering English language courses in Auckland since 2007. Kaplan are also in the process of developing a new Foundation Year, and other allied pathway programmes that will progress through the normal academic approval processes.

Discussions between Massey University and Kaplan are continuing, with additional opportunities being explored to further expand our international reach. Further information, as well as a growing list of FAQs are available on the Massey University website.

Thank you again for your support, we look forward to a long and successful partnership with you and the international students you support.

Kind regards,

Tere McGonagle-Daly
